Edited autobiography of William Stout, a Lancaster businessman operating on a small scale, written c1741/2-43, when he was in his seventies. An earlier edited version was published in 1851. Provides an account of his life in Lancaster covering business, social, religious, etc, aspects, providing insights into his entrepreneurship, connections, the influence of his religion on his business conduct, the economic and social life of Lancaster, etc. Scholarly introduction
