Part one provides accounts of individual booksellers who occupied the premises in New Bond Street from the early 18th century: John Brindley, 1728-58 [pp3-20]; James Robson, 1759-1806 [pp21-57]; John Nornaville & William Fell, 1806-30 [pp58-60]; Thomas & William Boone, 1830-72 [pp61-64]; Frederick Startridge Ellis, 1872-85 [pp65-68]; Gilbert Ifold Ellis, 1884-1902 [pp69-70]; J J Holdsworth & George Smith, from 1902 [pp71-72]. Part two provides transcriptions of 70 letters, 1751-1806, exchanged between the Robson family including the bookseller, James Robson, 1733-1806, which largely deal with family matters
