Reprint of part of Llewellynn Jewittt, 'Ceramic Art of Great Britain from Pre-Historic Times Down to the Present Day; being a history of the ancient and modern pottery and porcelain works of the kingdom and of their productions of every kind', 1878, London, Virtue & Co, 2 vols, illus. Largely comprises profiles of potteries. The compiler writes: 'In the earlier editions of the history, the accounts of the various manufactories appeared within their geographical sections but in no specific order. In an attempt to facilitate the use of this revised edition as a reference book, I have therefore rearranged the materials. To this end, Part One ... is devoted to the Staffordshire Potteries with the main towns appearing in their alphabetical sequence. Part Two deals with the non-Staffordshire producers of pottery and porcelain, listed in alphabetical order of the places where they worked'.
