Largely comprises transriptions of letters of Philip Stannard and the firm of Stannard & Taylor, later Stannard, Taylor & Taxtor, stuff manufacturers, in the period 1751-63. They provide 'valuable insight into the day to day operations of a major textile manufacturing firm' and are 'of special interest as they were written at a time when the export trade in textiles was expanding and the Norwich manufacturers, previously wholly dependent on their London agents, were beginning to experiment with direct shipments to Europe'. The contents include 'The letters of Philip Stannard' [pp25-105] and an introductory essay [pp1-24] covering the archive, the Stannard family, the Norwich textile industry, the firm of Stannard & Taylor and its growth, collapse and bankruptcy
