Based on an album of trade cards relating to Bristol, London, elsewhere in western England, and Wales, and made up by the Terrell family of late 18th and early 19th century Bristol ropemakers. Holds c1,300 card of which almost 570 relate to Bristol. In this book c260 of these are illustrated with each illustration containing very brief details of the firm concerned. Arranged by activity which include colliers, chimney sweeps, ceramic and glass makers, ropemakers, brewers, grocers, chemists, transport, professional services, etc, etc. Whilst the volume is not concerned with advertising, the trade cards were in effect advertisements for the businesses concerned
